Dan Uthe brings years of valuable and varied experience to consulting. After receiving a B.S. degree from Iowa State University Dan served as a loan officer with the Farm Credit system where his agriculture business education served him well.  With a desire to exchange places with the farmer on the other side of his office desk, Dan switched from a suit and tie back to the coveralls and boots from his upbringing on the farm.  He and his wife, Peggy, owned and operated a diversified grain and livestock enterprise that progressed from 160 acres to 1500 acres over a 20-year history.  As a groundbreaker in using computer software for accounting purposes in the complex business of crop and livestock farming Dan was also an advocate of the advantages of the computer "world". 

Dan's understanding of accounting and data systems and how it applies to the business of farming led him to a new career at Iowa State University in the extension field, managing data, teaching and providing computer support. This was followed by serving as a Director of Data Management where Dan developed custom data systems that were able to address a company's specific needs that pre-packaged software couldn't provide.  Through working with programmers and interfacing with the end users, Dan was able to deliver the software system the client wanted.

Most recently Dan has spent the last 9 years working in Quality Management and Environmental Management Systems, providing guidance to companies seeking certification in ISO9001 and BQ9000.  He has seen the certification process from both sides, serving as an internal auditor and lead auditor.  Dan has years of experience training people to do environmental assessments and conducting internal auditing. Dan has recently been certified in HACCP, ISO 22000, SQF 2000 and BRC implementation.

The depth and breadth of experience makes Dan uniquely qualified to work in all phases of business and industry. Dan delves into the expertise that already exists in a company and provides the framework and guidance to make existing processes work in YOUR system and to modify them when necessary.
